Demonstration of Software for Estate Agent Web Sites |

This demonstration shows the basic Data Highways Ltd active website software, configured to show properties to be sold or rented via an Estate Agent. This design has the capacity to handle just a few properties or many thousands of properties as required. Versatility:This sort of web site is suitable for any goods which require extensive contact with the vendor to complete a sale, not just homes. This demo is set to categorise the properties by number of bedrooms, but alternative arrangements can be configured instead, such as price or location. Readability:This is a highly practical design, it gets on with the job of displaying useful content to the Internet user and is not loaded with irrelevant Flash movies or whatever. Nor does it create unreadable web pages by trying to exactly replicate a printed page layout. Font sizes are set by the user's browser, so the text can be made large or small as desired by the user; you won't get complaints that the text is too small to read with this design. Navigation:Navigation around the site is self-evident, and provides several different methods. The main navigation is by clicking on a category title such as Three Bedroom Houses for Sale on the main sections index, then clicking the descriptive title of an interesting property such as S000001 Semi-detached property on Mosswell Rise. When viewing a list of properties the main index can be reached quickly by clicking [Sections] which appears just top left of the list. When viewing property details, the list of similar properties is quickly reached by clicking the section title eg. [Three Bedroom Houses for Sale] , next to [Sections] top left of the list. A drop-down list of sections with a button labelled JUMP provides a rapid method of moving from section to section without re-visiting the main section index. Search:It also has a Find capability, users can easily search the entire set of properties for location or facilities such as "Garage" or "Bungalow". An email facility for contacting the web-site owner is provided by the links [Help] [Contact Us] near the top of page. Updating:Within each section the web-site owner posts the descriptions of new
properties by clicking the small house icon Photos are prepared at the owners office and uploaded to the website with a simple prepared procedure needing only a double click of an icon on the desktop of the office computer. The photos are then inserted into the property descriptions with a simple tag that looks like this [imgl]/photos/F0123.jpg[/imgl]. Property descriptions and prices etc can be edited
at any time by from any computer with Internet access by
displaying the description page and then clicking the keyboard icon
The web-site owner has complete freedom to set the layout
of the property description and can include as much or as little information as
desired. Formatting is controlled by simple tags for headings etc,
click the keyboard icon above to see a typical set of markup tags. To see
