| Tom G |  Uploaded - 17 Nov 2001 06:21Dear Bill Williams I recently downloaded a set of your templates as I have a play ready for reading, which has been agreed to by a local theatrical group, for possible use at a forthcoming festival. I thought it may be prudent to prepare a production copy in case... To save time retyping 12, 500 words I removed all the previous formatting (compressed style) Cut and pasted to your template 3C. First removing Scene End, Scene Two, etc. I then used your keystrokes to re-format the Paragraph Style. This seemed to work like a charm, I saved it and closed down after re-formatting two scenes. This morning I called it up on screen again, thinking it odd that the usual Macro warning did not show on screen. Sure enough none of the key strokes work any longer. I had a look in the Tools/Macro on the toolbar, "Template For a Stage Script" was listed as being an active Macro. As I do not understand this part of Words, I thought it best to leave the damn thing alone in case I stuffed it up, and there might be a simple way to open it up. I am running Windows 98. Words 97. | Uploaded - 17 Nov 2001 06:23 Dear Tom, I'm not quite sure what you have done, but it sounds as if you didn't actually install the templates and then use Word...File...New to create a document based on the template. Instead it sounds as if you pasted your dialogue etc into an actual copy of the template itself, then saved it as a Doc. Macros are held in Templates never in Docs (except if they are Templates jemmied to look like a Doc to carry a virus). Try this: Install the templates into the MS Word templates folder(s) as described in the notes supplied. Then open your document, drop down the Tools menu, select Templates and Addins, then click the Attach button and navigate to the copy of the relevant template, now installed in the proper folder. Highlight the template and click enough OKs etc. This should attach your document to the template and the keystrokes should now work. Bill |

You now know that your templates can re-format from a standard Word document. If in the unlikely event I manage to sell the play, I will be happy to part with fifty pounds. However in NZ (with a few exceptions) the characters busking with penny whistles and mouth-organs outside theatres are likely to be hopeful writers. Regards Tom G |
