I decided to send the first act to a couple of people as an attachment and being aware of the importance of not deleting the first page I made an extra copy of the play on a floppy, thinking I could safely delete Page 0 on the floppy without it affecting the master copy on my hard drove. Now I've lost Page 0 from the copy on the hard drive and also on my Zip copy. The actual Page 0 is still there but I've deleted the content on it. I thought I was being so careful too thinking changes made to a floppy copy wouldn't affect the copy on the hard drive. Is it possible to reattach it? I still have all your templates on my machine. I know I've been a damn fool. Sorry to trouble you. It's a bit of a mini crisis with so much work done on it now. I'm sure you'll get some dosh out of it in the end. Thanks. Yours, Paul H
Bill Williams	Uploaded - 17 Nov 2001 06:32 Oh heck. I hope you made a printout of Page 0 to use as a crib sheet. The only way I can think of correcting the situation is to first create a new empty script, filling in the same title etc and most important filling in the character names in the same order as before. Then copy & paste the entire script, excluding title pages etc, from the old file into the script area (i.e. the end) of the 'empty' file. To highlight the entire script, go to the first line of the first scene and click the mouse just in front of it. Then press CTRL+SHIFT+END. Then drop down the Edit Menu and select COPY. Then close that script (do not save any amendments), open the empty one, move to the end and click the mouse there, then drop down the Edit Menu and select Paste. Then test to see if the quick key combinations for Characters work and finally save the file WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FILENAME than before to avoid overwriting your original in case something has gone wrong. I was confusing myself with my desk top short cuts and when I thought I was editing on drives A & B I was in fact hacking away at the master copy on the hard drive. No matter... I sussed out what I'd done wrong and retrieved a recent draft that had been Win Zipped a few days ago along with some other stuff. I've moved that over and all is well. Phew!
