The Scriptwriters Toolkit uses macros to do the tricky bits for you. Macros are recorded (then edited) sequences of keyboard & mouse actions. Unfortunately macros are very powerful and can be used to create malware sent to you as a Word document such that on opening the document the malware runs and can do nasty things to your computer. So by default macros are disabled in Microsoft Word and you need to enable them in a controlled way to run useful macros such as the Toolkit. The following is how you enable them on a document-by-document basis so that you can use the Toolkit without increasing the risk from malware. This is for Office 16 which is part of the rented Office 365 suite. Most of the recent versions of Microsoft Office & Word are very similar. 1. Open Microsoft Word with no document, i.e from the Windows Menu. 2. It should open with a Menu column on the left hand side, If you can't see that left column try opening a NEW blank document. 3. The bottom menu item in the left column is Options click it. 4. A panel called Word Options will open. 5. Find [Trust Center in its left column and click it. 6. Various info about trust centre appears and there should be a button in the right pane called Trust Center Settings click it. A further panel should open called "Trust Center". 7. In the left column of this new panel is an entry Macro Settings. Single click to highlight it. 8. Put a dot against the option Disable all macros with notification. 9. Click the OK buttons of the panels in turn to close them. 10. Close WORD ~~~~~ When you open Word to begin a NEW script, you will need to find Personal templates then open the folder Scripts5 and then select the desired Toolkit template for the script format that you intend to use. To prevent Malware you will next see a warning box: The macros in this project are disabled... etc click the OK button. The template will open but there will be a horizontal SECURITY WARNING stripe near the top saying that Macros have been disabled. Click the Enable Content button. Finally you will have reached the opening sequence of the Scriptwriters Toolkit. So carry on from there. The warning should appear only the first time that you begin a new script and select its template, it should not appear on subsequent editing openings. Bill.
